Jerry Starnes

As a "summer kid" living in Blowing Rock in his youth, Jerry was certain he wanted to live in the mountains year round one day. He achieved his lifetime wish and moved with his wife, Genie, to Blowing Rock permanently in 2000. A graduate of UNC – Chapel Hill with a degree in business, Jerry continued his education at Emory University in Atlanta where he earned his MBA. His diverse interests led him to Texas where he managed sales of a steel distribution company for sixteen years. His last steel challenge was building a new Nucor Steel Division’s sales department. Jerry and Genie, are members of St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church in the winter months and Blowing Rock Methodist Church in the summer. He has enjoyed working with the Chamber of Commerce on various committees, serving as a member of the Blowing Rock Board of Adjustments, the ABC Board, as a former Board of Governors member at the Blowing Rock Country Club and serving on the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation Board. He can be found hiking, golfing, enjoying ice cream on Main Street with their children and grandchildren and loving life in Blowing Rock.
